Non-Surgical Facelifts

While many of our patients want to look younger, the idea of invasive surgeries often does not appeal because of the pain, downtime and risks associated with surgical procedures. At St Mark Dental and Medical Group, we offer non-surgical facelifts in both our Wolli Creek and Monterey clinics to help patients achieve their aesthetic goals.

What Is a Non-Surgical Facelift?

Over time, gravity takes its toll on the skin and ageing poses particular challenges when considering the appearance of the skin. Collagen production slows, and skin can appear thinner, less voluptuous and even papery. The non-surgical facelift can both lift and fill out the appearance of the skin.

Also known as the Hollywood lift, thread lift, suture lift and feather lift, non-surgical facelifts utilise physical manipulation of the skin combined with the body’s natural response to trauma to produce more collagen and a more youthful look to the skin.

How Thread Lifting Works

Thin needles guide biocompatible threads under the skin when they are attached and gently lifted and secured to help produce a higher and more youthful appearance to the skin. We use two types of thread for non-surgical facelifts in our Wolli Creek and Monterey clinics.

Smooth thread — gently glides beneath the skin and is controlled by strategically placed sutures

Barbed thread — small barbs in the thread grab more skin for greater lift

Both types of thread will dissolve, and the controlled trauma will induce collagen production in the skin.

Our clinical staff will map out the areas of the skin most affected by the signs of ageing and essentially create a blueprint for the areas that could benefit from lifting.

We can use a topical and local anaesthetic to ensure your comfort throughout the process.

What Is Collagen?

Collagen is one of the main structural components of the skin and connective tissue. The body produces collagen naturally, but it starts to decline around age 25 when the skin’s ageing process starts to show.

Collagen in its purest form is frequently used in cosmetic treatments, and the body can be provoked to produce collagen through minor, controlled trauma such as thread lifting, laser resurfacing and derma stamping.

Who Can Have Thread Lifting?

Most healthy men and women without suppressed immune systems are candidates for thread lifting. Our clinical team will start with medical history and a discussion of your goals for your appearance to help you determine which cosmetic treatments might give you the results you are seeking.

Thread Lifting Aftercare and Downtime

Some dimpling and indentation marks from the sutures may be visible for up to two weeks following care. You should avoid facial massage, lifting, straining or lying down for 12 hours after treatment. When sleeping, lying on your back will provide more benefits and prevent damage to the sites.

Cold packs often help with swelling, which is most dramatic in the 24 hours following treatment.
